Felicia | Bridals at Zilker Botanical Garden

My business partner, Daniel Lawrence, and I photograph weddings and events under our joint business name, Flare Photography. Last weekend, we had the honor of taking Felicia’s bridal portraits at Zilker Botanical Gardens. For those of you who may not be from the south (like me!) and have NO IDEA what a bridal portrait is or why they are done, it’s basically just a photo session with the bride sometime before the wedding day, in her wedding dress and all accessories – kind of like a dress rehearsal. In days past, the photos taken were very traditional and the favorite portrait from the session would be framed and displayed at the reception, then hung in the family’s home and passed down through the generations.  Eventually you would have a wall of bridal portraits of you, your mom, your mom’s mom, your great-grandmother, her mother…well,  I think you get the picture here! Some brides opt to take these photos in tradition – such as the photos you will see in this post – while others rather have a more modern twist (watch for Julie’s bridal session later this year for a more modern bridal session example).

I have been patiently waiting until after her wedding (which was this past Sunday) to share a few of my fave shots with you. Felicia and her family are all so down to earth, good-natured, and whatever we would ask her to do she would do it – even when she felt a little funny about it. Thanks for being such a good sport, and enduring all the mosquitos that were out to get us that morning. You deserved that cigarette girl!! I think we got some beautiful photos that Felicia and her family will cherish for generations.

And now for the ravishing bride…
